Augsburg Winter League Rules
- Substitutions Players may substitute in and out freely or “on the fly,” provided the player entering the field of play is within 10 feet of the player leaving the field of play.
- Goalkeeper Play Goalkeepers may not throw or punt the ball beyond half-field in the air (the ball must bounce at least once before crossing half-field). Goalkeepers are allowed to flight the ball with their feet beyond half-field within the run of play (provided it is not a goal-kick).
- Off-sides There is no off-sides.
- Slide-tackling Slide-tackling (except for the goalkeeper) is prohibited. Restart is an indirect free kick. Players may slide to play or block a ball, but NOT to tackle an opponent.
- Encroachment The non-encroachment distance is 7 yards. This includes all free-kicks, kick-offs, penalty-kicks, and corner-kicks.
- Start of Play The ball does not have to be played forward on the kickoff; however, the kick is indirect.
- Length of Play All games are 2 x 25-minute halves with a 2-minute halftime.
- Number of Players A match shall be played by two teams, each consisting of not more than 7 players, one of whom shall be a goalkeeper. The minimum number of players is 5. A Co-ed team must have at least 3 women on the field at all times. If a team is reduced to below the minimum number of players the game will be terminated. The proper league authority will decide on the outcome of the game.
- Rosters & Player Eligibility There is no limit to the number of players that can be on a team’s official roster. However, to be eligible to participate in a match, all players MUST be officially registered with the league at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled kickoff time for any given match. No exceptions will be made. Players not registered by this deadline will be considered ineligible to play.
- Fouls & Misconduct Cautions (yellow cards) are per FIFA. Send offs (red cards) are per FIFA with the following additions: a) If a player is sent off (receives a red card) due to a second yellow card, that player cannot participate in that game anymore. The sent-off player will be replaced by one of the qualified substitutes immediately. The team will not play short. The sent-off player may play in the next game. b) If a player is sent off due to a straight red card offense (except for item c), that player will not participate in that game anymore. The team will play short for the next ten minutes or the remainder of the game, whichever is less. The sent-off player will sit out the next game. c) If a player is sent off for violent conduct or serious foul play, which in the opinion of the referee was a calculated act to harm another party, the sent-off player will not participate in that game anymore. The team will play short for the remainder of the game. The sent-off player will sit out the next two games. Further sanctions may be taken against the offender and their team by the facility authorities. Note 1: If a team falls below the minimum number of players solely due to an accumulation of red cards (type b and c), the game will be terminated. Assuming the other team has at least the minimum number of players, the game will be forfeited and the score will be recorded as a 2-0 win for the eligible team, unless it was already winning with a higher score, in which case that score will stand. Note 2: If both teams fall below the minimum number of players at the same time for any reason, the facility management will make a decision as to the outcome of the game.
- Goal Kick A ball put into the field of play from a goal kick must be touched by a player of either team or touch the field of play in the kicker’s half of the field. NOTE: A goal kick, a toss from the goalkeeper’s hands, or a punt directly from the goalkeeper’s hands which crosses the half without touching a player or the field will result in an indirect free kick for the other team from the spot on the halfway line where the ball crossed.
- Playoff Tie Procedure A five-minute sudden-victory overtime period will be played. If no winner is determined, penalty kicks will decide the winner. This is for semifinal and final games only.
- Shin Guards/Jewelry Shin guards are required. Jewelry shall be removed with the exception of wedding rings.
- Fees Registration: Team and player registration is through Bantr. Deposit: A $200 deposit or full payment is due at the time of team registration. Payment Options: Payment can be made by one person (team manager) or divided among registered players (see Bantr for details). Payment Deadline: Registration must be paid in full 4 weeks prior to the start of the league. Late Player Additions: Players may be added after registration closes (see Section 9) and will be charged an insurance and processing fee. This fee is to be paid via Bantr registration no less than 24 hours prior to kickoff.
- Concussion Policy Player safety is the top priority. The league follows a strict “if in doubt, sit them out” policy for suspected concussions. a) Immediate Removal: Any player suspected of suffering a concussion must be immediately removed from the game. The referee or team coach can make this call. This decision is final, and the player may not return to the same game for any reason. b) Substitution: The team may substitute for the removed player immediately and will not be required to play short. c) Return to Play: A player removed for a suspected concussion cannot play in future league games until cleared by a qualified healthcare professional. d) Reporting: The referee must report the incident to the league immediately after the match.
